Learning the Trap Trick Tree - Diran Jimenez - Saturday 5/25 10:50 AM
This workshop will teach you what makes a trick a trap, why they're important, how to incorporate them into your flow, and most importantly of all, as many examples as possible within the time limit. These include: two arm traps, chest traps, neck traps (native and non-native), in-spin neck traps, and finally one arm traps (slap-backs and snap-backs). If we get through all that (and/or you know most of those already) we can cover variations, such as pirouettes and extensions.
Obviously there's a lot of material. My goal is to spread as much information as possible, and make sure everyone has a strong enough understanding of each trick that they can finish learning them on their own. This workshop is open to spinners at all levels, there's something for everyone! I look forward to meeting and teaching as many people as possible :)
Pre-Requisites: Please please please make sure the center of your dragon is marked (electrical tape and self-fusing silicon tape both work fantastically if you don't know what to use). After that, you should ideally have a strong foundation on dragon: chi rolls should feel as easy as breathing, and preferably you've learned two or three other tricks on top to get used to moving with the dragon.
Location: Burn Field A
Difficulty: Mixed
Matrix Multiplication - Diran Jimenez - Saturday 5/25 3:00 PM
In this workshop we will be expanding on and exploring the matrix, multiplying our options of tricks across the back for flow. This includes a brief overview of distinct entrances to the matrix, but the meat of the workshop will be learning variations on the matrix itself. These include: the tornado, the continuous tornado, and the Neo. Given extra time/interest, we can cover any of the following: the frontside matrix, the double sided matrix, and/or twisted tornado.
A disclaimer: these tricks are not easy, and take a lot of reps to get consistent. The goal of this workshop will be for everyone to have a strong enough understanding of each trick such that, once you understand how to do them, you'll be able to master each trick during your own practice.
An aside on naming conventions: If you're familiar with dragon and contact, you might be aware that a "matrix" on contact staff is different from a "matrix" on dragon staff. To be specific, this workshop will center on the Half-Andre, which consists of the staff rolling perpendicularly across the back, as opposed to the Back-Half SNeS to Front-Half SNeS that contact staff considers a matrix. The Half-Andre is possible on contact (someone at wildfire taught it a few years ago, the video recap is somewhere on YouTube), but it requires very precise timing.
Pre-Requisites: It would be rude of me to ask for niche tricks as pre-requisites without some tutorials, so I recorded two videos and linked a third:
Continuous Palm Spins: https://photos.app.goo.gl/YXAPy8Wrf1BbefYr7
Rotors: https://photos.app.goo.gl/x8r86BBWEWFZoNwh8
Matrix: Plenty of tutorials online, but I quite like this video for form:
https://youtu.be/e2U8W2JQeTc?si=wz-VtOllouGnu8Tp
Make sure you're super comfortable on the matrix. Can you control how fast it is? Can you do it very slowly? What's your accuracy? 50%, or 95%? Can you control where it rolls on your back? Can you keep it high on your back, near your shoulder blades, and can you get it to roll along to your low back? Take some time to drill your matrix if you want to get the most out of this workshop.
If you're struggling with any of these and need some help, feel free to contact me (email: diran.jimenez@gmail.com, discord: @diranorange). If you send me a video of you trying to do a trick, I'd be more than happy to coach you through it and help you learn! I want as many people as possible to feel like they can attend this workshop prepared, so please don't feel shy.

It’s playing with balls in ways that make you question gravity and wonder if your drink was spiked. This class will focus on the fundamentals needed to start you down the path of playing with this simple and wondrous art. Primarily focusing on one-ball work but would be happy to share my love of multisphere as well. I will have some practice toys but the more the merrier, it’s always nice to try out different sizes, weights, and materials to find the right ones for you.

I should have some extra spheres sets but if you have several of the same size that would be helpful. 4 is ideal but 3 or even 2 can work. This is an ALL LEVELS class, we will find something that you find interesting regardless of experience level.

This class will provide a top-to-bottom, head-to-toe foundation for rope dart tech, covering basic wraps, shots, and contact dart points. These are the pieces that build into more complex technical combinations later on: we are approaching rope dart tech as something infinitely modular, where moves can be spliced apart and reconstructed in a myriad of ways. You'll learn to not just execute a move, but see how to approach it from every direction, and then exit in any which way, allowing for deeper exploration of other fields of tech.

Intro to Crowstyle Puppyhammer - Matthew T Culen - Saturday 12/30 12:00 AM
The puppyhammer, also known as the oxbow hammer, is a meta-prop that fuses aspects of poi, contact staff, and rope dart. In this class, students will learn the basics of crowstyle spinning, in which the hammer largely stays captured around the spinner’s torso. We will cover how to properly wear and size a puppyhammer, then progress through the different crowstyle modes (poi, elbow, shoulder, and off-body), as well as some basic transitions to link the modes together into that buttery smooth puppy flow.
Pre-Requisites: Although not strictly essential, students will have an easier time if they already know poi turns and reels.

Open Grip Weaves and Flair - Kira Morrow - Saturday 5/25 3:00 PM
This workshop will focus on open grip weaves, which is one of the beginning fundamentals of Russian Grip style fans spinning, and fun moves one can transition from weaves into. I plan to break down the two basic open grip weaves ( thumb and pinky led ) and cross body variations to work up to waist wraps. As these moves can be tough on the wrists/elbows/shoulders while learning, I plan to break up this workshop by teaching some fun flair moves.
Note: These moves are possible with any type of grip for fans ( like doodle or pistol ), but may be harder with those than the larger ring fan types ( Russian Grip, Hybrid Grip ). Also the majority of what is taught in this workshop can translate well to smaller-sized double hoops.
Pre-Requisites: Please bring or borrow fans to use in this class. I will only have a few extra pairs of fans for people to borrow.
